![]() ![]() ![]() Roon is very pricey compared to Audirvana, but for me it works so well there was no going back. It allows for multi-room, multi-system control which I dont really need, so it is a bit of a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. The issue we run in to is using something that has a strong sound signature and then tune our system around it. 3.5 is better than Studio but it is veiled and lacking tone still. You have to wonder how long Tidal and Qobuz can last, and how it will affect the bottom lines of Audirvana and Roon if they fail. Behind the scenes Audirvana takes care of the. Roon is better than Audirvana 3.5 for my taste but much closer than Studio is than either of them. Audirvana is in the same precarious position as Roon in that they are overly dependent upon Tidal and Qobuz, both of which are under threat by Amazon, Spotify, and Apple moving to lossless. It really is an excellent, well thought out offering with superb EQ facilities, the Roon live radio, it sounds excellent & is rock solid stable. Interfacing with Qobuz or Tidal is smoother and much more responsive than through the respective native apps. In my opinion, Roon is like a much better, more polished & slick version of Audirvana. My Mac mini acts as a Roon endpoint so it was very easy to set up & my library was correctly restored. I say “pretty stable” only because there was a fairly big update a year or so ago & for reasons I never understood, it completely screwed up my library, splitting it into duplicate albums with only 3 or 4 tracks on each album.Īfter trying to resolve this, reverting to an earlier version etc without success, I trialled Roon. There’s also a reasonable data base/user forum on the computeraudiophile site.Īudirvana allows you to search & select Music, has “plug-ins” for EQ, decent graphics & the program is usually pretty stable. I used Audirvana to manage & access music for a good few years. I have my music on a Mac mini HD ( maybe about 1000 cd’s) & I use Tidal. ![]()
